Meet Kelly Peterson

Faith, Family, and Service First

Kelly Peterson is a conservative activist, accomplished small business owner, and longtime resident of Spring, Texas. For the past four years, she has served as District Director for State Representative Sam Harless, where she oversees district operations, manages constituent casework, and leads community outreach efforts. Her effectiveness in this role—and her unwavering commitment to public service—have earned her Representative Harless’s full and unequivocal endorsement in the race for Texas House District 126.

A resident of HD 126 since 2006, Kelly has lived, worked, and raised her family in the community she now seeks to represent. Her long-standing roots give her a deep understanding of the district’s needs—but it is her work as District Director that has provided her the most direct insight into how state government impacts families, schools, and businesses. Over the past four years, Kelly has managed hundreds of constituent cases, collaborated with state agencies to resolve complex issues, and worked closely with local leaders, law enforcement, and community organizations to address neighborhood concerns. She has seen firsthand where state policy succeeds and where it falls short, and she understands how to translate community challenges into actionable legislative solutions. This experience has prepared her to step into a larger role as a legislator—one focused on advocacy, accountability, and ensuring that the people of HD 126 always have a strong, informed, and effective voice in the Texas House. Known for her integrity, transparency, and steadfast work ethic, Kelly is a trusted, solutions-driven leader who listens closely, leads decisively, and delivers results.

Kelly’s professional background spans both the private and public sectors. As a small business owner, she has founded, operated, and managed multiple enterprises—experience that gives her practical insight into the needs of entrepreneurs, property owners, and working families. She is currently the executive assistant to the president of J Alan Kent Development, supporting contract acquisitions and major operations. She is also the owner of KPDC, LLC, providing creative opportunities for adults with special needs. She previously owned a dance studio and an oilfield consulting company, demonstrating leadership and adaptability across diverse industries. In her public-sector role, Kelly has been instrumental in connecting residents with vital resources, advocating for their needs, and ensuring they receive responsive, effective assistance from the Capitol.

A lifelong Texan, Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Gerontology and a Master of Education, both from the University of North Texas. Her academic training provides her with a strong foundation in issues affecting seniors, families, caregivers, and individuals with special needs—perspectives that further strengthen her commitment to thoughtful, community-centered leadership.

At the heart of Kelly’s life are faith, family, and service. She has proudly raised two sons in Spring and remains deeply dedicated to protecting, strengthening, and uplifting the community she calls home. Kelly’s candidacy is grounded in lived experience, long-standing relationships, and a sincere desire to build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for Texas House District 126.

Issues

Strong, Conservative Leadership for Texas

  1. Property Tax Relief
Advance meaningful, long-term reforms that deliver real property tax reductions and move Texas toward ultimately phasing out the property tax burden on homeowners.
  2. Flood Mitigation & Community Safety
Strengthen and modernize local infrastructure to protect homes, reduce flood risk, and keep neighborhoods safe, while ensuring law enforcement and first responders have the resources they need.
  3. Secure Borders
Support strong, comprehensive measures to secure the border, remove individuals in the country illegally, and disrupt the operations of dangerous drug cartels.
  4. Economic Growth & Local Jobs
Champion policies that bolster small businesses, attract new employers, and expand economic opportunity for families across the district.
  5. Education Opportunities
Ensure every child has access to a high-quality education, support competitive teacher pay, and empower parents to make the best decisions for their children. Strengthen and expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs—to give students practical pathways to high-demand careers. Kelly is committed to building a strong pipeline between local CTE programs and the businesses and industries within the district, ensuring that students graduate career-ready while keeping jobs, talent, and economic growth right here at home.
  6. Defend the Second Amendment
Protect and uphold the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, ensuring law-abiding Texans can exercise their freedoms without government overreach.
  7. Sanctity of Life
Stand firm for pro-life principles and advance policies that protect and defend the most vulnerable among us.
  8. Reform FM 1960.
FM 1960 in northwest Harris County is plagued by severe congestion, dangerous conditions, and poor planning from unchecked development. We must reform infrastructure priorities, improve coordination with TxDOT and local governments, and deliver real traffic relief and safety upgrades for residents.
  9. Stop Woke Indoctrination. Protect Parental Rights.
Public schools should teach academics, not push divisive woke ideologies on race and gender. We will stop indoctrination and restore parental rights so parents—not bureaucrats—control what their children learn and experience.
  10. Stop The Spread of Illegal Islamic Organizations in Texas.
Texas must crack down on illegal Islamic organizations and networks that threaten public safety and American values. This includes stricter enforcement, monitoring foreign funding, and preventing radical ideologies from taking root in our communities.
  11. Keep Our Elections Secure Every Cycle.
Election integrity is non-negotiable. We will maintain strong voter ID laws, limit mail-in voting, ensure ballot security, and conduct regular audits to protect every legal vote and maintain public trust.
  12. DOGE Texas. Keep Texas Affordable.
[Pass open books laws to monitor state and local spending]
We will bring DOGE-style efficiency to Texas government by cutting waste and increasing accountability. Passing open books laws will give Texans full transparency into state and local spending to keep taxes low and our state affordable.

Kelly was the District Director for House District 126, serving many of the needs of her future constituents already. She knows what the position requires and knows the area very well. She is not the politician most been accustomed to seeing. She is a mom, a true Christian, and has a servants heart. This runoff race is important. Please vote.

It has been an awesome experience to go from opponents to a collaborative effort to move things forward for the District 126 community. I ran on a platform to get things done. We still have someone in this race who is willing to step up and bring the needed solutions to the issues across the finish line. I ask that if you voted for me, that you actively support and vote for Kelly Peterson in the upcoming runoff election.
